Frequently asked questions
Questions and answers
For organisers
What does it cost to book through this platform?
The platform charges no fee or commission. You agree the speaker’s fee directly. Their profile shows a starting fee or a fee on request.
How does the voluntary match contribution work, and why no commission?
After an event, we ask if you would like to contribute. You decide what the match was worth, including nothing. We do not deduct anything from the speaker’s fee. If the event did not happen, we do not ask for a contribution.
Who agrees the terms and contract?
You and the speaker do. Agree the content, preparation, fee, travel and cancellation terms, and put them in writing. We put you in touch.
Do I need an account to send a request?
No. Fill in the request form on the profile. The speaker receives it and contacts you directly.
How quickly will a speaker respond?
That is up to the speaker. We do not promise a response time. Include your event date and any deadline in your request.
How can I judge a speaker’s quality?
Read their bio and talks, and look at stage photos and any pitch video. Reviews come from organisers who sent a platform request. A conversation still matters: is this person right for your audience?
Can I find a speaker for an English-language event?
Yes. Filter by English as a presentation language. The English speakers page also has a Presents in English option. Confirm the language with the speaker beforehand.
What is the difference between Speak, Host and Engage?
Speak means bringing your own story. Host means connecting speakers, panellists or guests and keeping the programme on track. Engage means the audience takes part, for example in a workshop or quiz.
For speakers
Who can join as a speaker?
You have a story or experience that gives an audience something useful. You do not need to be well known. Complete your profile honestly and choose the categories and tags that fit your work.
What does a profile cost?
There is no profile fee or commission. After an event arranged through the platform, you choose whether to contribute and how much. Having a profile does not commit you to a contribution.
Why show my fee, and can I choose fee on request?
A starting fee helps organisers see whether you fit their budget. Choose per day or per performance/half-day, in euros excluding VAT. You can also choose fee on request and add a note.
How are reviews verified, and can I respond?
Only an organiser who sent a platform request receives a personal, one-use review link after the event date. You can respond publicly once. A review describes an experience; it is not a quality certificate.
How can I make my profile easier to find?
Be specific about your audience and what you bring to them. Choose relevant topics and tags. Add talks, a clear photo and, if you like, a pitch video. Share your profile with your network.
Can I hide or delete my profile?
To hide or delete your profile, contact Jerre through the form on Our story. We will agree what should happen to your profile and any ongoing requests.
About the platform
What happens if a speaker becomes too well known?
Then we have achieved our aim. Honestly, we do not yet know exactly what happens next. You might move to a speakers’ bureau to handle your requests. We might one day build a platform for well-known speakers. Or we might simply keep your profile. We will decide when the time comes. There is already a button: if you think a speaker is too well known for this platform, use “Does this speaker belong here?” on their profile. We will take a look.
What happens to my personal data?
Your profile is public. Your email address and phone number are not. When you send a request, we use your details to connect you with the speaker. The privacy policy explains what we keep and why.
Who is behind the platform?
Jerre Maas, event chair and founder. The best speakers are often not the best known. We give them a platform. Read Our story to find out why and get in touch.
