Role

Hire a moderator

A moderator leads one discussion or session: a panel, an audience Q&A or an expert session. The skill lies in asking follow-up questions, cutting people short without belittling them and involving the audience. A moderator keeps their own opinions off the stage. Agree beforehand which questions must be asked.

Questions about the moderator

What's the difference between a moderator and a debate chair?
A moderator helps people understand each other and explore a topic in depth. A debate chair brings opposing views into focus, with motions and sides.
How many panellists can a moderator manage?
Three to four works well. With five or more, nobody gets enough time to speak.
